Spring Comdex 99

The following are the rest of my pictures which I took while attending the Spring Comdex 1999 show held in McCormick Place in Chicago. The URL for the main write can be found here.

The Linux Pavilion at Spring Comdex 99

In comparison to the Fall Internet 98 show which I saw 6 months ago, the Linux Pavilion at Spring Comdex 99 was quite amazing. It has grown in size and made quite a presence at this Comdex show. Redhat had the biggest booth. I think VAResearch had the second biggest booth and the rest of the Linux startups each had quite to show, from companies like Cygnus Solutions, Applix Ware, Linux Care and others.

John "Mad Dog" Hall, the Executive Director of the Linux International(external link), attended the meting on its behalf. Above he is pictured giving a Linux de-FUDing seminar to a rather large audience. Linux install sessions were given in this space as well showing off the ease of a Linux install.

Bob Young is photographed in front of the large Redhat booth. An IBM is running the gnome desktop environment coupled to the enlightenment window manager.

VAResearch with an equally large presence. The three guys pictured together work for VAResearch. They were showing off systems with these very nice LCD displays.

Linux Hardware Solutions and the Linux Mall. Stuffed Tuxes everywhere.

Applix and Portland Group. I've spent a lot of time porting Fortran code using Portland Groups f77 compiler. g77 is catching up quite well though...

Lets not forget our FreeBSD friends. They seem to be the forgotten free OS.
